Technical Services Bureau

The Information Technology Division (ITD) is lead by the agency’s Chief Information Officer, who is also the Information Technology Division Director. The Chief Information Officer/Division Director is an exempt position reporting to the NMED cabinet secretary. The Division is comprised of the Application Services and Technical Services Bureaus.

Responsibilities of the CIO/Division Director include implementing the Governor’s information technology initiatives, strategic planning, asset management, architecture and standards-setting, data integration, and overseeing:

The CIO is also responsible for approving, and managing all procured IT products, services, and contracts.

The NMED IT Governance Board, the Change Control Board, is chaired by the NMED CIO. The primary responsibility of the board is to manage NMED information systems and limited IT resources in an enterprise (holistic) manner according to the strategic business objectives and legal requirements of the entire organization. IT projects are managed on a portfolio basis to align people, projects, and organizational priorities.

The Technical Services Bureau (TSB) is responsible for maintaining the department’s technical and telecommunications infrastructure. TSB ensures the secure and efficient operation of the department’s local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and data center, and provides technical support to the department’s business units. TSB supports both the department’s disaster recovery and the state’s IT consolidation activities.

The TSB consists of three sections: Bureau Support, Database Administration, and Network System and Security.
