August 20, 2008 Meeting

The Task Force worked for a two-year period, making its final report available in November 2007. The members of the Task Force and all other interested parties are invited to  convene periodically in the future to receive updates and provide additional input.  The first of these meetings was held on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Farmington, NM.

Seventy people attended the meeting held at San Juan College, and both agency and industry representatives reported on progress in implementing mitigation options from the Task Force Report.

A brief update on the modeling project indicated that results are expected by the end of the year, and this Group will convene in February to learn about them. See the Meetings page for details as they become available.

A field trip to the San Juan Generating Station to see implementation of the environmental upgrades at units 3 & 4 took place on the morning following the meeting (Thursday, August 21).
