Farmington Meeting – November 8, 2006

The fifth face-to-face meeting of the Four Corners Air Quality Task Force was held November 8, 2006 in Farmington, NM beginning the second year of a two-year process to develop mitigation options for the Four Corners area. In brief, half way through the Task Force process the meeting garnered over 70 participants representing industry, local government, public interest groups and citizens as well as representatives from federal, state and tribal agencies.

Participation in the 4CAQTF has increased to 95 Task Force Members and 105 Interested Parties. We now have about 70 mitigation option papers. A working draft of the full Task Force Report already is available on the task force website at: http://www.nmenv.state.nm.us/aqb/4C/DraftTaskForceReport.html.

The draft report is a compilation of mitigation option papers written so far by members of the Four Corners Air Quality Task Force. The agencies involved have not reviewed or adopted these options. The options will be considered following the completion of the Task Force’s work.

Cortez Meeting - August 9, 2006

The fourth meeting of the Four Corners Air Quality Task Force was held August 9, 2006 in Cortez, CO. Work Groups on Oil & Gas, Power Plants, Other Sources, Monitoring, and Cumulative Effects continued to develop new material, which will be added to the Draft Report each quarter. In brief, nearly half way through the Task Force process the meeting garnered some 75 participants representing industry, local government, public interest groups and citizens as well as representatives from federal, state and tribal agencies. Participation in the 4CAQTF has increased to 90 Task Force Members and 90 Interested Parties. Task Force members continue to be enthusiastic about the process and have developed drafts of some 35 mitigation options papers so far. These are posted as the Draft Task Report.

Cortez, August 2006

Farmington Meeting - May 9, 2006

The third meeting of the Four Corners Air Quality Task Force was held May 9, 2006 in Farmington, NM.  Five work groups focusing on issues related to oil and gas development; power plants; other air pollution emission sources; cumulative effects; and air quality monitoring met face-to-face. Technical background information documents for Modeling; Monitoring; Emissions Inventories; Air Quality Effects; Legislative, Regulatory, and other initiatives in the Four Corners region were reviewed and work groups developed work plans. Participation in the 4CAQTF has increased to 82 Task Force Members and 86 Interested Parties.  The task force will work over a two-year period, making its final report available by December 2007.

Durango Meeting - February 8, 2006

The second meeting of the Four Corners Air Quality Task Force was held February 8, 2006 in Durango, Colorado. The first meetings of the work groups were held at this meeting. Over 90 people attended this meeting, including agency representatives, environmental group members, industry representatives, and members of the public.

Task Force Kickoff

The Kickoff Meeting for the Four Corners Air Quality Task Force was held November 2, 2005 in the Henderson Fine Arts Center, Room 9012 at the San Juan Community College at 4601 College Boulevard, Farmington, New Mexico.

This open-house style meeting took place Wednesday, November 2, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Of the fifty-five people who attended the meeting, twenty-three signed up to be members of the task force and eleven chose to remain informed as interested parties.
