Links to Small Business Web Sites
There are many web sites that discuss environmental rules and regulation that pertain to small businesses. Here are some that we have found to be very useful:
The New Mexico Small Business Development Center operates eighteen offices throughout the state offers free business advice and assistance to small business owners and their employees.
The New Mexico Economic Development Department (NMEDD) provides a variety of information for businesses working in New Mexico or planning to locate an operation here.
The New Mexico Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) offers small manufacturers in the state assessments and guidance in lean manufacturing, product development, equipment specifications and health, safety and environmental issues.
The US EPA has released several new Area Source Regulations that impact many small businesses. To review these regulations, please visit the US EPA Area Source Rules web page.
The USEPA Small Business Gateway and the Small Business Environmental Home Page provide access to environmental compliance and pollution prevention information for small business owners and employees.
The U.S. Small Business Administration provides an index of services, including small business classifications, that can help you determine if your business is a small business.
The USEPA Pollution Prevention web site provides industry guidance and common sense solutions to environmental management and problem-solving. The National Compliance Assistance Centers site helps make sense of environmental regulations for many types of industries and services.
The USEPA offers a primer on the many facets of the Clean Air Act that may help you understand this regulation, titled "The Plain English Guide to the Clean Air Act". You can review or download this document from their web site.
The USEPA also offers information for the automotive collision repair, refurbish, and auto body industry on their Auto Refinish Project web site. The CCAR-GREENLINK site offers environmental compliance information for the automotive repair and collision repair industry, especially those using spray guns and spray booths.
The NM Environment Department Pollution Prevention Program is an increasingly important effort by New Mexicans to manage waste properly and to reduce the source of those wastes. Business owners and community leaders throughout New Mexico are encouraged to contact the Program for free technical information on waste management and waste reduction.
The WERC Resources Center (WRC) in Albuquerque and NM State University in Las Cruces provides technical assistance and information to businesses and communities on cost-effective ways to reduce pollution and preserve New Mexico's valuable environmental resources. For more information, contact:
