PRODUCT(S):“Edelweiss Creamery Premium Fondue Blend”, 16oz packages with the red and blue label “Edelweiss Creamery Premium Fondue Blend”. The packaging lists the UPC code 758590116914 and the identifier code 290A11, both of which are located on the back of the package

MANUFACTURER: Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion Company

DISTRIBUTION: In New Mexico @ Sunflower Markets (Albuquerque and Santa Fe)

QUANTITY: 492 pounds (total, not all in NM)

REASON: It has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes

ADD’L INFO: Consumers are urged to stop consuming the recalled product and return all recalled products to the store of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact Alpine Slicing and Cheese Conversion Company at 608-934-5707, from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday, or by email at ascserv@gmail.com.

NMED ACTION: Call Sunflower Markets verifying the product has been removed and request recall signs to be posted at point of sale. Request quantities received and removed/returned.

MANUFACTURER: Taylor Farms Retail Inc.

DISTRIBUTION: The products were distributed in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Washington and Puerto Rico and sold in various retail supermarkets.

QUANTITY: 3,265 cases

REASON: Has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

ADD’L INFO: Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may experience fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and abdominal pain. In rare cases the organism can get into the bloodstream and cause more serious complications.

NMED ACTION: Respond to any consumer complaints. Verify removal of product from retail locations.

REASON: The strain of Salmonella Heidelberg in question is identical to that of an outbreak of Salmonellosis that resulted in an August 3, 2011 recall of ground turkey products.

ADD’L INFO: The products subject to recall today bear the establishment number "P-963" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were produced on August 23, 24, 30 and 31 of this year.

NMED ACTION: Respond to any consumer complaints. Verify removal of product from retail locations.
