Recreational Water Illness (RWI)
Cryptosporidium (or “crypto”) is a germ that causes diarrhea. It is spread when someone who has crypto uses your pool. Since crypto is chlorine resistant, even well maintained pools can spread crypto. To help prevent the spread of crypto, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends the weekly hyperchlorination of all pools. Click here to see CDC’s Guideline on Hyperchlorination ().
