The Río Puerco Watershed TMDL

The Río Puerco Watershed Part One TMDL includes a single
TMDL planning document for
sedimentation/siltation. Additional impairments will be discussed in the
Rio Puerco Watershed Part Two TMDL. SWQB announced a 30-Day Public
Comment Period for the DRAFT Río Puerco Watershed TMDL beginning on
March 17, 2006. Responses were accepted until April 17th, 2006.

All comments and SWQB
responses are incorporated into a WQCC-Approved version, which
were presented to the Water Quality Control Commission (WQCC)
for approval at a Public
Hearing in Cuba, New Mexico on Tuesday,
September 12th, 2006. The Hearing was extended and
reconvened on October 10th,
2006. The WQCC approved that
version of the TMDL at their regular November meeting.
The United States
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
reviewed and approved the Rio Puerco Part 1 TMDL at their Region 6
Offices in Dallas, Texas on August 10, 2007.
