Position Summary:

To assist in the maintenance of equipment involved in the operation of water and wastewater treatment plant; to collect various water and wastewater samples and conduct samples tests; and to perform the more routine functions involved in operating a water/wastewater plant. This is an entry level class in the Water/Wastewater Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions and the possession of a Grade II Water and Wastewater Operator Certification.

Job Qualifications:

Must have or be able to obtain within a twelve-month period a Level II laboratory Technician Certification. Must have at least three years of hands on experience in the wastewater field. Position Summary:

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of the Pueblo of Sandia Wastewater system collection and discharge infrastructure, and Water system wells, treatment, storage and distribution infrastructure. The position will provide direction and supervision of Level II and Level I operators in the safe operations and maintenance of the Water/Wastewater infrastructure. The position is a lead operator and will assume responsibility for O&M in the absence of the Level 4 Supervisor.

WASTEWATER LEAD OPERATOR
   
Position Summary:

Coordinates the work of all plant operators.  Develops new operating instructions in coordination with wastewater supervisor, passes on new instructions and trains all operators in their implementation and reviews operating reports.  Performs preventive maintenance of plant equipment and overhaul same if required. Creates and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all plant equipment and systems. Maintains operating schedules and is expected to be able to recognize malfunctions and other operating problems and to take corrective action based on experience.  Oversees cleaning and general maintenance of facilities. Monitors the rate of flow throughout plant. Reads and records a variety of meters, flow charts and keep log sheets. Operates bar screens, grit chambers and other related equipment. Takes scheduled laboratory samples throughout the plant and performs simple lab tests in the field. Will be required to operate light equipment. Responsible for materials and equipment necessary for day-to-day operation of the plant. Prepares daily and monthly reports of wastewater treatment plant, operating conditions, analyzes all operational standards and safety requirements. Will be required to wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Will be required to drive a City vehicle. Will be required to work the rotating on-call schedule and weekend plant checks.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Five years experience in wastewater treatment plant operation, 2 years of activated sludge, batch reaction or similar plant experience. High School diploma or GED, State of NM Level 4 wastewater systems certification. One year lead, supervisor, foreman or related experience.

WATER FOREMAN
   
Description:

Under limited supervision, the Foreman performs work in the operation of the water distribution/production system, water storage system, pumps, motors, lift stations and sanitary sewage collection system. This work involves coordinating and supervising work of subordinates. Work is performed in accordance with established operating procedures, applicable Federal, State and local regulations. The Foreman makes decisions in the operation of the water distribution system, water storage systems, water wells, lift stations and sewage collection system based on his knowledge and experience. However, the more serious decisions are referred to the Water Supervisor for the final decision. The Foreman will have full supervisory responsibility over subordinates. The Foreman answers directly to the Water Supervisor and assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Water Supervisor in his absence. The Foreman is expected to perform the various tasks required under limited supervision. These tasks may be completed outside in all weather conditions and times of the day/night. Some work will be required after hours and on weekends or as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Five years experience in water distribution/production or sanitary sewer collection system operation and maintenance. High School diploma or GED, State of NM Level 3 water systems certification. One year lead, supervisor, foreman or related experience. Level II or higher NM wastewater systems or collections certificate preferred.

Pueblo of Pojoaque Tribal Works is seeking a full-time Level III Wastewater Operator who will work with the Plant Manager performing a variety of skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of an extended aeration with de-nitrification and membrane filtration system.  Applicant should have a working knowledge of laboratory procedures and analytical techniques.  Knowledge of safety standards and practices required.  Must be able to contribute to a positive work environment and effectively utilize all resources available.  Weekly work-shift includes weekends.   Must be able to respond to call-outs after normal working hours on an as-needed basis.  Must be able to easily lift 50 lbs. or over.  Qualifications include High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of experience in the related field.  Salary DOE.
