The Stewart Meadows Project is part of a larger effort in the Southern Mountain Bird Conservation Region to develop, improve, and protect a system of wetland habitats on the Tres Piedras Ranger District of the Carson National Forest.

FREE RESOURCES

This project will complete wetland restoration for 325 acres in the Rio San Antonio floodplain by:

	Creating additional acres of small wetland complexes;
	Dispersing flow from arroyos onto floodplain terraces;
	Maintaining and further restoring an existing impoundment;
	Improving fences that restrict cattle;
	Providing wetland and riparian planting and seeding; and
	Maintaining the ditch system that provides water to the Stewart Meadows complex.

Additional objectives are to:

	develop a Wetlands Action Plan for Conejos Watershed; and
	Provide wetlands education and experiences for local middle and high school students and teachers.
