We often take for granted the water we drink, bath in and use for innumerable purposes. We only begin to think about water when it fails or threatens us. As New Mexico's population continues to grow, demands on our limited water resources will also increase.

Issues of water quantity and water quality are inseparable. The scarcity of clean, fresh water will continue to be a crucial challenge for New Mexico residents. Protecting the state's surface and ground waters from contaminants requires everyone's cooperation; residents, businesses, industries and our national laboratories.
